Glyphix
Glyphix is a cross-platform desktop app for on-device document OCR. Engine selection, model installation, batch recognition and export live in one workflow:
- Engines and models are downloaded and installed inside the app, through the proxy you configure;
- Batches support batch-level options plus per-task overrides, and can be cancelled or inspected while running;
- Results are verified across six linked views, then exported to TXT, JSON, CSV or Markdown.
Inference happens on your machine. The app only goes online to fetch the JSON catalog, download models and check for updates.
Design choices
- On-device first — recognition works without a cloud service, and documents never leave the device.
- Pluggable engines — one task, preview and export pipeline serves every engine; capability flags and adapters absorb the differences.
- Platform habits win — window controls, shortcuts, tray behaviour and typography follow each OS. Brand consistency lives in colour, spacing and corner radii.
- Actionable failures — download, install, recognition and export errors always come with a next step.

Windows arm64, Intel Macs, Linux arm64 and Wayland are second-tier targets: features may degrade, but every degraded item is labelled in the engine center and settings — never silently missing.
