Preview and export

Six views

The result preview works on one intermediate representation (IR); every view reads the same data:

ViewNotes
MarkdownDefault structured view, editable, with a rendered preview on the right
HTMLRead-only render of the Markdown, with scripts and event attributes stripped
Image + boxesPage pixel coordinates mapped onto a canvas, coloured by block type
Plain textConcatenated in reading order; line numbers are original block indices
BlocksType, confidence, coordinates and origin; text boxes are editable
RawJSON view of the IR for verification

Selection stays linked between Markdown, image, plain text and blocks. HTML is a read-only render and does not take part in block highlighting.

Editing

  • Markdown is the only structured editing entry point: it commits on blur, parses back into the IR, and matching blocks inherit their coordinates, confidence and reading order with a manual-edit origin.
  • Blocks is for fixing local text; changes write back to the same IR so Markdown and HTML re-render together.
  • Headers and footers are hidden by default and can be shown from the view options.
  • Tables and formulas are edited as source text and re-rendered on save.
  • Image blocks are cropped from the page by coordinates and cached, then referenced from the Markdown.

Low-confidence hints

  • The default threshold is 0.8; blocks below it get a red dashed outline in the image view.
  • Blocks with an undetermined type use a dotted outline, distinct from low confidence.
  • Hints are consistent across views — scan them before exporting.

Export formats

FormatBest for
TXTPlain text only, or feed downstream scripts
MarkdownHeadings, lists, tables and formulas, identical to the preview
JSONFull structure, coordinates or further development
CSVTabular results for spreadsheets

Exported Markdown uses the same renderer as the preview, so what you see is what the file contains. The export panel offers a save location and related options.

PDF export is not built in. Export Markdown or HTML and convert with another tool if you need PDF.

Handling failures

Export failures offer three actions:

  1. Retry — usually enough for network drives or temporary permission issues.
  2. Open folder — check whether the target is read-only or locked by another process.
  3. View logs — the logs page contains the error code and stack summary.

Native preview component

The HTML view runs in the system WebView: WebView2 on Windows, WKWebView on macOS, WebKitGTK on Linux. When the component is missing, the app hides the HTML tab, shows an explanatory banner and falls back to text preview without interrupting the results.
